In the early 19th Century the tables used in the drawing room were called breakfast tables and mostly made in the round to seat 6 people. Into the Victorian period the shape changed predominately to oval and exotic walnuts were the fashion. Known as Loo tables at the time due to the game of cards often played at the table in the evening but functionally were the household breakfast table. This huge example has the most dramatic quarter formed radial figured timbers to the ogee moulded top, finished below with a beaded apron. The turned and facet carved stem is supported by classic rococo quadriform cabriole legs. This generous size will seat 6 people very spaciously but one or two extra chairs could fit when required. Super impressive example of the finest early Victorian cabinet work. Measures 164cm x 110cm.
