12ft Georgian Revival Concertina Scissor Action Extending Mahogany Dining Table

Description

A Work of Art would be a fare description for this very unique design of late 19th Century table which both incorporates the George II characteristics and the patented concertina extending mechanism of Wilkinson. The metamorphic ergonomics almost certainly points to the fact that this table was commissioned for a fine Town House where space constraint reqaired a large dining table on occasions with ability to disappear to the side of the room smartly as a console when not in use. The fine details begin with detailed rope carved edge to the figured top and continues to the panel beaded and gadroon trimmed apron supported by very fine cabriole legs with eagle claw feet and acanthus carved to the shoulder. An exquisite aesthetic one of a kind in our 35 years specialising in fine antique dining tables. Measures 48" wide x 22" deep when closed to side console and extends to 144" with all the leaves used.
